According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham have offered €30 million (£25m) plus bonuses to sign Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Tottenham are attempting to salvage what’s left of the transfer window having seen approaches for wingers Adama Traore and Luis Diaz fall in recent days (Football London).

Spurs have since stepped up their interest in securing Juventus’ Bentancur on loan, who has also appeared on the radar of Aston Villa this month (Sky Sports).

Villa are said to have had a €25 million (£20.8m) bid knocked back by the Serie A giants with a sell-on clause still active with the Uruguayan’s former side Boca Juniors (The Guardian).

However, Di Marzio has now revealed that Spurs have one-upped their previous offering and the Midlands club’s bid to a larger amount, which could convince Juventus into agreeing a deal before Monday’s deadline.

Bentancur, 24, joined the Serie A giants in 2017 and has been a regular fixture in the side, making 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Spurs and Villa look like they will be duking it out to lure Bentancur to the Premier League ahead of the transfer deadline. He could be a very viable option to deploy in midfield as he offers a slightly more creative dynamic to what Spurs currently have on offer.
