The Evening Standard have reported that Rodrigo Bentancur could make his Tottenham return in mid-September, which would mean just a few more weeks of waiting for Spurs fans.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been sidelined since February when he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Leicester City.

At the time, Bentancur was arguably Tottenham’s best and most consistent player behind Harry Kane, and the season quickly derailed once he was no longer in Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

Bentancur could return for Spurs in the next month

However, it appears the Lilywhite faithful may not have to deal without the deep-lying creator for much longer, as Bentancur nears a return to the Hotspur Way training pitches.

At the start of August, the man himself told a fan in North London that he needed a couple more months to make his return (TikTok).

Ange Postecoglou will surely be delighted to see the former Juventus midfielder return to his squad, alongside other midfield options such as Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, and Pape Matar Sarr.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Having a midfield trio of Bentancur, Bissouma, and Maddison would be incredible for Spurs. Let’s hope that the Uruguay international is back within a month and that Maddison’s own injury isn’t too bad. At least Pape Matar Sarr has shown he is more than ready, either way.
