Rodrigo Bentancur has hinted on social media that he is now not far away from returning to action.
Bentancur was a big miss for Spurs in the second half of last season after suffering an ACL injury at the start of February, and it certainly was not a coincidence that the Lilywhites struggled to pick up wins in the final few months of the campaign.
While a midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison has worked very well at the start of this season, Spurs fans are still eagerly waiting for the return of the Uruguayan, with a fit and firing Bentancur having the potential to make Tottenham’s midfield one of the best in the league.
Rodrigo Bentancur is getting closer to a return
There was some excitement on social media when the former Juventus man was seen taking part in the warm-up along with his teammates at Hotspur Way on Thursday (Sky Sports Football Daily).
Dan Kilpatrick subsequently made it clear that the midfielder did not take part in training and only went through the warm-up as part of his rehab.
However, Spurs fans will be encouraged by Bentancur’s latest Instagram post, with the 26-year-old posting a picture with his teammates in the training ground, along with several hourglass emojis, hinting that he is not far away from a return to action.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think the Spurs medical staff or Postecoglou would want to rush Bentancur back, particularly given how well Pape Sarr is doing at the moment.
Even when Bentancur returns to full training, we will likely not see him in action for a few more weeks after that as players usually take time to overcome the psychological barriers of pushing themselves following an ACL injury.
