Ange Postecoglou says there is no change on Rodrigo Bentancur at the moment, with Tottenham’s long-term absentee still just doing warm-ups at Hotspur Way.
Bentancur has been out injured since February when he ruptured his ACL against Leicester City, with Spurs naming a midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and James Maddison for the most part this season.
No more progress on Bentancur return just yet
While Postecoglou did confirm that Bentancur is doing work out on the Hotspur Way pitches, he added that the Uruguayan is only taking part in warm-ups so he doesn’t have to do them alone.
The midfielder is yet to participate in any kind of ‘meaningful’ training with the first team as he continues his recovery.
Bentancur is expected to return in November (Football.London) and was recently spotted doing some light ball work in solo training (Tottenham).
Postecoglou said (Football London): “Nah, nah. There’s no change. All Rodrigo is doing at the moment is warm-ups with the teams so he’s not doing it on his own, but he’s not participated in any sort of meaningful training yet.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Bentancur’s return is going to be huge for Tottenham. In particular, when Bissouma and Sarr go off to the African Cup of Nations in January, Bentancur could be so important as the pivot in midfield.
