Rodrigo Bentancur has been stepping up his rehabilitation as he recovers from an ACL injury, and has even been taking part in warm-ups with his teammates.
Since joining Tottenham in January 2022, Rodrigo Bentancur has shown just how much talent he possesses.
In particular, his form in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign was outstanding. The Uruguay international had six goals and two assists to his name (Transfermarkt) before suffering a season-ending injury in February of this year.
The ACL injury Bentancur picked up is expected to keep him out until November. Until then, Ange Postecoglou has been able to count on the midfield pairing of Pape Matar Sarr and the rejuvenated Yves Bissouma so far this campaign.
Nevertheless, the anticipated return of Bentancur next month will be a huge boost to Postecoglou and his Spurs team as the 26-year-old can add an extra level of quality to the squad.
Bentancur will not be rushed back by Tottenham
Now, we have an update on Bentancur’s progress thanks to a report from The Athletic.
It is said Bentancur has “stepped up his rehabilitation” recently and has even “taken part in warm-up exercises” with the Spurs squad of late.
Apparently, the midfielder is “desperate” to join the rest of his teammates for more serious training sessions, but the club is making sure his path to recovery is “carefully managed.”
Unfortunately, Bentancur is not expected to return any sooner than the initial November estimate and the priority is to ensure he is not rushed back before he is ready.
Spurs Web Opinion
Having Bentancur back will be a great boost for Spurs. Sadly, Pape Matar Sarr may eventually lose his place in the starting line-up, but an extra, top-class midfielder being in our squad again will really help our cause as we continue to compete this season.
