Football Insider have revealed that Liverpool are now prepared to enter the race for Wolfsburg centre-back Micky Van de Ven, who is also of interest to Tottenham Hotspur
It has been well documented that Spurs are looking to make wholesale changes at centre-back this summer (The Athletic), with Van de Ven alleged to be one of the names on the club’s wishlist.
In fact, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano a couple of days ago that the North Londoners had already opened talks over the deal with the Dutchman’s representatives.
However, Football Insider have now suggested that Tottenham are set to face competition from Liverpool for Van de Ven.
The publication explains that Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing a central defender who can operate in a back three or a back four, and has identified the Wolfsburg star as an ideal fit.
The report alleges that the Reds are ‘prepared’ for a battle against Tottenham for the 22-year-old’s services.

Micky Van de Ven is an exciting prospect and it is not surprising to hear that Tottenham will be facing competition for the 22-year-old, given that there are not too many options for the left centre-back role.
The one advantage Spurs could have over the Reds is that they are better placed to offer the Wolfsburg star guarantees regarding regular game time.
