Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has told STV that he is not paying attention to rumours he is wanted for the Tottenham Hotspur job and insists he is entirely focused on the task at hand with his current club.
Postecoglou took over at Celtic in the summer of 2021 and has once again helped to establish the Old Firm side as the top team in Scotland.
He has won the Scottish League Cup twice, and won the SPL title last season.
After 28 games this season, Celtic are nine points clear of Rangers and look set to retain their league title once more this year.
It’s no surprise that Postecoglou has been attracting attention from the Premier League recently.
The 57-year-old was linked to the vacancy at Leeds United (Daily Star) before Javi Gracia was appointed there.
Now, the Australian has been mentioned as one of the names Tottenham Hotspur may turn to should Antonio Conte leave the club, or be sacked (Telegraph).
However, the man himself doesn’t seem too concerned by the speculation.
He told STV: “I don’t wake up and get a daily briefing on the latest gossip, whether that’s football or non-football related.
“I get up every morning and come to work and deal with what’s in front of me.
“The rest of it doesn’t mean anything to me, doesn’t affect me, doesn’t affect the people around me.”
“Like most things, people want to have something to talk about and they pick things that are fairly obscure and you can run with, without worrying too much whether there is actually any evidence behind it.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I do really like Ange Postecoglou and I have a feeling he will do really well in the Premier League if and when he chooses to come over here.
However, we have to be careful when considering how successful he is there, as the Scottish league is far less competitive than the English top flight.
