Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have studied the possibility of appointing Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou has done an outstanding job since taking over at Celtic Park in 2021, with the club looking on course to win back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles.
The Bhoys have lost just one league game all season and have played some eye-catching and high-octane football.
The Times were the first to report at the start of March that Postecoglou is one of the names on Tottenham’s radar to take over from Antonio Conte.
This was subsequently backed up by journalist Gary Jacob who told beIN SPORTS that Spurs are looking to appoint someone who is prepared to build a long-term project at the club, with the Celtic boss alleged to fit the bill.
Gold has now confirmed that Tottenham have indeed considered Postecoglou as an option but questioned if the Australian’s lack of experience in a top league might be a deal breaker.
The journalist said on The Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Someone I like, I can’t see it happening because it may be too much of a risk, but Postecoglou at Celtic, Celtic fans love him.
“He had a sticky start last season, he comes across so well, he could unite the fanbase, but he’s coming from Scotland, he might be seen as a risk.
“He’s definitely someone they’ve looked at and it’s the same with Vincent Kompany who is doing a wonderful job at Burnley right now.”

The Scottish league is arguably on par with League One in terms of the quality of players and managers. So, it would be risky to make an appointment based on someone’s success in that division.
However, the Celtic job is certainly a high-pressure environment, which comes with the demands of getting wins consistently, and Postecoglou has shown that he is more than capable of handling that.
