Fabrizio Romano has revealed in the most recent episode of the Here We Go Podcast (starting at 02:52) that Tottenham have settled on Arne Slot, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou as their top three candidates to replace Antonio Conte.
Romano states in the podcast that the first step for Spurs is to appoint a sporting director, with Daniel Levy now working to fill that position. He explains that Tottenham will then speed up their managerial search, having already narrowed in on three candidates.
One of those is said to be Slot, with Romano claiming that the North London club have discussed the Dutchman’s name internally as the successor for Conte.
He reveals that Amorim is also ‘appreciated’ by the Spurs hierarchy, who have been impressed by his work at Sporting Lisbon, while Postecoglou is also said to be a contender for the job after his work at Celtic.
The journalist adds that Spurs have not decided who their top candidate is among these three and that will only be made once a sporting director arrives through the door.
Ryan Mason has been in interim charge of first-team matters since a decision was made to cut ties with Cristian Stellini in the wake of the 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle United.
Spurs Web Opinion
I am extremely surprised that Roberto De Zerbi is seemingly not one of the top names on Tottenham’s wishlist as he certainly fits the profile Spurs are allegedly looking for.
Perhaps, Tottenham tested the waters for the Italian through intermediaries and are not convinced that they could persuade him to leave Brighton.
