Son Heung-min has lavished praise on James Maddison, admitting that the attacking midfielder has brought ‘something special’ to the Tottenham side.
While Maddison was widely recognised as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League during his time at Leicester City, the 26-year-old has seemingly taken his game up a notch or two since his summer switch to Spurs.
The England international once again made the difference in the final third for Tottenham at Luton Town on Saturday as he jinked past a defender and picked out Micky Van de Ven in the box to turn the ball home after the away side decided to take a short corner.
Heung-min Son is a huge James Maddison fan
Son has suggested after the 1-0 win that the midfielder makes the current Spurs side tick.
When asked about Maddison, the Tottenham captain told TNT Sports: “I love him, he does everything. When we’re not having good build-ups he’s going back to help a little bit with the defence.
“He’s a fantastic player. Having this guy on our team is something special. He’s been amazing.”
Spurs came into the campaign with relatively low expectations on the back of their disappointing eight-placed finish last season but they are now seen by many as one of the favourites to finish in the top four after their impressive start to the season.
When asked if there is now added pressure, Son responded: “We definitely have a pressure, we are in a big club and obviously we have to get results.
“The players are young and play with good rhythm. I think it’s very important that we feel the pressure but we take responsibility, I think everyone does [that] really well.”

The system that we play is a perfect fit for Maddison and the 26-year-old is thriving in the freedom that he has been given by Postecoglou.
It also appears like he is benefiting from Kane’s departure as the England international has relished the additional responsibility as one of Tottenham’s main men in attack.
