Jamie O’Hara has said that Tottenham Hotspur have no excuse not to go all out to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson next summer.

Multiple outlets reported during the summer transfer window that Tottenham explored Ferguson as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

This includes TEAMtalk who claimed on August 13 that even though Spurs knew it would be a ‘tough deal’ to pull off due to Brighton’s unwillingness to sell the 18-year-old, the North London club did their ‘due diligence’ on a potential move for the striker.

Both Goal and talkSPORT also subsequently backed up Tottenham’s interest in the Republic of Ireland international but both publications revealed that the Seagulls had put a £120m price tag on the youngster to scare off the Lilywhites.

Ferguson has been on fire at the start of the season, with four goals in the first four Premier League games, with his value looking set to skyrocket ahead of next summer.

Tottenham should sign Evan Ferguson next summer

However, O’Hara believes that Tottenham need to break the bank to bring the Brighton star to N17.

The pundit told Sky Sports about Ferguson: “I think he’s tremendous. Been talking about him for a couple of years now and he’s absolutely sensational, he’s got everything. He reminds me of Harry Kane, but better, because Kane wasn’t even playing Premier League at that age.

“He’s very much in the mould of Kane. He’s another £80-100m player. I don’t know where Brighton keep digging these players.

“If Tottenham have anything about them next summer, then next summer, sign Ferguson for whatever it takes. We know Brighton sell. Tottenham should go sign him, spend the Kane money on him. He’s the future.”

Ferguson is already beyond our price range and there is no chance that Tottenham would be willing to pay the sort of fee that would be necessary to prose him away from the Amex Stadium.

Spurs are evidently trying to find the next up-and-coming stars before they explode, which explains their capture of Alejo Veliz and why they strongly considered a move for Gift Orban.
