Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed personal terms with Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario ahead of a potential transfer.

It was only a couple of days ago that 90 min reported that Spurs were ready to turn their attention to other alternatives to David Raya since Brentford were unwilling to budge on their £40m asking price, despite the fact that the Spaniard only has only year left on his contract.

It looks like Tottenham have not wasted any time doing so, with Gianluca Di Marzio revealing on Wednesday that the Lilywhites had pushed ahead with a move for Vicario.

The journalist explained that there is a ‘verbal agreement in principle’ between Spurs and Empoli on a €20m (£17.2m) fee, with the Serie A club now waiting for a written offer.

Spurs have agreed personal terms with two keepers

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the North London club have also struck an agreement with Vicario on a five-year contract, adding that the Premier League side are expected to present an official offer soon.

He reminded Spurs fans that the club have also agreed personal terms with David Raya.

The Italian transfer expert wrote on Twitter: “Tottenham have reached agreement on personal terms with Guglielmo Vicario on five year contract valid until 2028.

“Spurs also agreed personal terms with Raya but Brentford’s £40m asking price is considered too high — official bid to Empoli for Vicario, soon.”

It appears Postecoglou was keen on bringing a goalkeeper through the door before the start of pre-season, which is why Tottenham did not want to get involved in a protracted transfer saga for Raya.

Perhaps, Spurs’ move for Vicario will see Raya’s representatives dial up the pressure on the Brentford hierarchy to bring down their asking price.
