Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be involved in the race to sign Rennes wide-man Jeremy Doku, but face competition from Manchester City and West Ham.

With a little under two weeks to go until the transfer window closes, it seems multiple clubs are still keen to reinforce their squads for the season ahead.

Tottenham have already had a very busy summer, with players added in important areas across the team. Guglielmo Vicario is in as Spurs’ new number-one goalkeeper, Micky van de Ven bolsters a leaky defence, and James Maddison adds much-needed creativity to the midfield.

With the departure of Harry Kane, however, Tottenham have money to spend and space in their attack to fill.

Spurs are thought to be looking at a number of names, including wingers such as Brennan Johnson (Independent) and Wilfried Gnonto (LondonWorld), and out-and-out strikers like Gift Orban (CaughtOffside) and Elye Wahi (Foot Mercato).

Tottenham in the hunt for Jeremy Doku

Now, the latest name to be linked with the Lilywhites is Rennes attacker Jeremy Doku. But, Spurs are not alone in their admiration of the Belgian star.

According to a report from the Independent, Tottenham, Man City, and West Ham are all keen on the 21-year-old, but will have to pay £50m to snap him up.

West Ham are believed to be “more advanced” in their pursuit and “already have an offer in,” but have fallen short of the French side’s valuation. It is believed the Hammers ability to offer Doku regular first team football could be an advantage.

Meanwhile, City and Spurs are able to put forward “persuasive claims” to entice the winger to their clubs if Doku wants to compete “at the very top level.” The Manchester giants are “confident” they can secure a deal for Doku “in the next two weeks.”

The report adds that whoever misses out on Doku will likely make a move for Crystal Palace star, Eberechi Eze.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jeremy Doku is a phenomenal young player who is set for a bright future. If City go for him, we all know how that race will end. But, I would be very happy if we signed Eberechi Eze anyway, so either would be a fine acquisition for Spurs.
