The Daily Mail have revealed that Manchester City are now considering a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Eze has just two years left on his contract with Palace and Alasdair Gold revealed in his column on Football.London a couple of weeks ago that Tottenham are monitoring the player’s situation.

Fabrizio Romano also subsequently told CaughtOffside earlier this week that Spurs ‘appreciate’ the Palace star but he expressed doubt over whether the Eagles would be open to selling their talisman.

Spurs could face competition from Man City

If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham could not face competition from Man City for Eze’s signature, with the Premier League champions said to be weighing up a move for the 25-year-old after their pursuit of Lucas Paqueta collapsed.

The report states that the England international has been on the Manchester club’s radar for quite a while and scouts from the Etihad were ‘heavily impressed’ with the way he controlled games last season.

The outlet explains that while Palace are expected to demand more than £70m for Eze, a big offer could test their resolve, given that the attacking midfielder has two years left on his deal at Selhurst Park.

I would much prefer that we go after Eze rather than Brennan Johnson as the Palace star would be a transformative signing. However, the 25-year-old is probably out of our price range while City entering the race would only further complicate the situation.
