Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for out-of-favour Manchester City star, Kalvin Phillips during the January transfer window.

Things have not gone according to plan for Phillips since his switch from Leeds to the Etihad in the summer of last year, with the midfielder struggling for minutes.

Pep Guardiola has opted against using him over the last few weeks even though Rodri is out injured and the City boss did not bring on the 27-year-old against Arsenal even though Mateo Kovacic was dangerously close to being sent off.

Spurs are really keen on signing Kalvin Phillips

Football Transfers have now asserted that Phillips is likely to leave the Premier League champions when the transfer window reopens.

It is alleged that Ange Postecglou wants to bolster his midfield and that Tottenham are ‘really keen’ on landing the former Leeds star.

However, the report adds that Spurs are not the only ones to hold an interest in the England international, with Everton and Newcastle also thought to be eyeing moves for the player.

Phillips would not be a bad replacement for Hojbjerg as there is no doubt about the 27-year-old’s talent. However, his injury record and the fact that Guardiola’s public assertion last season that the midfielder was overweight, might perhaps put some clubs off from pursuing him.
