Ian Wright has admitted that Ange Postecoglou has surprised him with how quickly he has implemented his ideas at Tottenham Hotspur.
Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham at a time when the club looked extremely disjointed, having failed to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2009.
There was a major disconnect between the fan base and the team, and he also had to cope with the loss of the club’s record goalscorer, Harry Kane in the summer.
The Australian has wasted no time in putting things right and the mood around the club has been completely transformed, as evidenced by the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the three home matches so far.
Spurs fans are over the moon with the kind of attacking football the side is playing at the moment, so much so that Kane’s departure is hardly a talking point in N17, less than two months after the 30-year-old’s departure.
Ian Wright has been impressed by Ange Postecogl0u
When asked about the impact Postecoglou has had at Tottenham, Wright told Premier League Productions (02/10/23 at 2:20 pm): “It’s underrated. It’s an underrated effort he is doing, at the minute. I remember people saying at the start that ‘he needs to start well’.
“With the players he has got, you want them to do well and win some games and stuff. But I didn’t expect it to be in the grove it is now and so quickly.
“Not just physically, but mentally as well. They know what they are doing – we are looking at a team that we know that will improve simply because Bentancur is to come back.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While things appear extremely rosy at Spurs at the moment, it is important for fans to not get carried away and put pressure on the side. This remains a transitional season and while we can afford to dream, we should not lose sight of the fact that anything more than a top-six finish will be a bonus.
