David Seaman says he is starting to worry about Tottenham Hotspur, admitting that he has changed his mind about the Lilywhites’ prospects this season.
Most people, including the majority of Spurs fans, were expecting this to be a transitional season under Ange Postecoglou, given the loss of Harry Kane and the fact that the Australian made slow starts to his time at Celtic and Yokohama Marinos before those teams started clicking into gear.
However, in contrast, Spurs have come racing out of the blocks this season, with the players already seeming to have a very clear understanding of what the manager expects from them.
The Lilywhites were completely written off from the race for the top four at the start of the season, with some pundits even suggesting that they might struggle to finish in the top half of the table (Football Insider).
David Seaman is starting to get worried about Spurs
Seamen revealed that he was one of those questioning Tottneham’s Champions League credentials at the start of the season, but admitted that Postecoglou’s men have proven him wrong.
He said on Seaman Says podcast: “The fact that it’s eight games and Spurs haven’t been Spursy is a worry! It just shows they are ticking along nicely.
“Top four, I don’t think they were in it in our predictions at the start of the season. The form they are in now is impressive and it’s not even got Ange excited yet, so who knows what they will be like when he does get excited! They are on form and they are going to be difficult.”

It is still very early days in the season, with not even a quarter of the campaign done. While Spurs fans have every right to get excited, we should not lose sight of where the club were just a few months ago when Ange took over and have the perspective to realise that a top-four finish would be an outstanding achievement.
