The Sun have claimed that Toni Kroos’ representatives will sound out several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, if the player is not handed a new contract by Real Madrid soon.
Kroos will go down as one of Madrid’s biggest legends, having won four Champions League titles and three La Liga titles since joining the club from Bayern Munich back in 2014.
The 33-year-old’s current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out next summer, which is why his immediate future is now thought to be in doubt.
The Sun state that Kroos’ representatives are waiting to see if Los Blancos offer him a new deal. If they fail to do so before Christmas, it is explained that the German could move to the Premier League in January, having always fancied a crack at English football.
Toni Kroos could take a look at Tottenham Hotspur
The report adds that if Real Madrid do not open contract talks soon, Kroos’ representatives will reach out to Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs.
Even though the World Cup winner worked with Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, the report states that Tottenham is a ‘likelier destination’ for the player in January.
Finally, the publication adds that Carlo Ancelotti’s men would accept a ‘nominal fee’ for Kroos in January if they do not offer him a new deal.
Spurs Web Opinion
While there is no doubt that a player of Kroos’ experience and quality will add a lot to the squad, he simply does not fit the profile of signing that Spurs have gone for, particularly under Postecoglou, who prefers working with young, up-and-coming talent rather the established superstars.
