Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven has admitted that he has been made aware of the speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham but insisted that he has left the responsibility of sorting out his future to his agent.
Van de Ven has caught the eye since establishing himself as a regular in Wolfsburg’s starting eleven, with the 22-year-old making 33 league appearances in the Bundesliga over the course of last season (Transfermarkt).
The 6-foot-3-inch left-footer, who has also operated as a left-back on occasions, is currently with the Netherlands’ Under-21s side in the European Under-21 Championship, with a senior call-up to seeming like it could be just around the corner.
Fabrizio Romano revealed a couple of days ago that Van de Ven is on Tottenham’s shortlist alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Taposba, with the journalist adding that the North London club have already reached out to the centre-back’s representatives.
Micky van de Ven has been informed of Spurs links
The defender has now chosen to keep his cards close to his chest, remarking that his agent would inform him if there is any concrete interest.
When asked about the speculation linking with a move to Spurs, Van de Ven told Voetbal Primeur: “I have been forwarded it, I have seen it.
“What I have said before: it really goes through my agent now. If serious things come up, he will call me.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect Tottenham are eyeing Van der Ven as a backup option to Edmond Tapsoba if a deal for the Leverkusen star falls through.
Having said that, if Spurs choose not to push ahead with a permanent deal for Clement Lenglet, we would need to sign another left-sided centre-back this summer.
