According to El Chiringuito TV (22/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Sevilla have now made contact with Tottenham regarding a loan deal for Pape Matar Sarr in January.
Spurs fans are yet to catch a glimpse of Sarr, with the midfielder not getting a single minute under his belt this season since returning from his loan spell back at Metz.
The only competitive action that the 20-year-old has had this campaign has come in Premier League 2, while he also made a couple of substitute appearances for Senegal at the World Cup (Transfermarkt).
Reports over the last couple of months have indicated that Spurs are willing to loan Sarr out in January, with Antonio Conte thought to be keen on adding reinforcements in the middle of the park next month (Evening Standard).
El Chiringuito TV have now stated that Sevilla are ‘mulling over’ the idea of signing the Spurs midfielder on loan.
The report states that Jorge Sampaoli wishes to sign a central midfielder and that the La Liga club have ‘already had contacts’ with the North London club regarding the former Metz man.
Spurs Web Opinion
Sarr is certain to be loaned out in January as Conte clearly does not think he is ready to get minutes at Spurs. However, the club will need to be careful about who they loan the youngster out to as it is vital that he gets regular starts under his belt.
I actually would not be against loaning Sarr out to a Championship club for the second half of the season as he is likely to get plenty of minutes under his belt and get used to the demands of English football.
