Sport Mediaset have claimed that Juventus are not likely to be unopposed in their pursuit of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in January.
News of Juventus’s interest in Hojbjerg first emerged earlier this week when Corriere della Sera (via Sport Witness) reported that the Serie A giants could offer the midfielder a route out of Tottenham when the transfer window reopens.
The report added that the Bianconeri are keen to bolster their options in the middle of the park and that the Tottenham man is an option that appeals to them due to his quality and his ‘personality’.
A couple of days ago, CalcioMercato also backed up Juve’s interest in the Spurs star, stating that the 28-year-old is seen as the ‘right fit’ for the club due to his ‘experience, leadership and technical characteristics’.
The outlet suggested that the Italian club could look to sign the midfielder on a loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the summer.
Juve expected to face competition for Hojbjerg
Sport Mediaset have now suggested that the Old Lady’s pursuit of Hojbjerg would not be straightforward as they will face competition for the player’s signature.
The publication names Atletico Madrid as the club who are likely to be Juventus’ biggest competitors for the Tottenham man.
They explain that the Rojiblancos ‘already tried’ to sign the Dane in the last window and are expected to reignite their interest in January.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham would want to get a bidding war going to get a decent fee for Hojbjerg but the reality is that neither Juve nor Atletico are in a great financial position at the moment.
I would not be surprised if some Premier League clubs show interest in the 28-year-old in January but it remains to be seen if the Dane would be willing to move to a mid-table club.
