According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), contacts are continuing ahead of the January transfer window as Juventus aim to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
We at Spurs Web have relayed several reports from Italy over the last week which have backed Juventus to make a move for Hojbjerg in January (CalcioMercato).
The latest such report has now come from Gazzetta, who have now stated that Juve are working on a deal to sign the Tottenham man as they face the prospect of the long-term loss of Paul Pogba due to a doping ban.
Juventus are pushing ahead with Hojbjerg move
They claim that there is ‘certain movement’ in the deal and that ‘contacts continue’ but it is not made clear if the Serie A giants are speaking to Spurs or Hojberg’s entourage.
The publication explains that the Bianconeri’s move for the Dane would ultimately depend on the situation of the player come December and that their chances of landing the 28-year-old would improve if he still finds himself struggling for starts at Tottenham.
Spurs Web Opinion
Unless there is an injury to Bissouma and Sarr, I do not see how Hojbejrg will get any starts under his belt until January, particularly with Spurs now out of the Carabao Cup and Bentnacur potentially a month away from a return.
So, the likelihood is that the former Southampton man will leave in January, with Juve now appearing to have emerged as the top contender for his signature.
