Gazzetta dello Sport claim Juventus are convinced that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would be the right man to strengthen their midfield.
Over the last couple of weeks, several Italian outlets have reported that Juventus are eyeing a move for Hojbjerg in January (CalcioMercato).
However, reports from Spain over recent days have indicated that Atletico Madrid remain in pole position to sign the Tottenham man in January after being frustrated by their inability to get a deal for the midfielder over the line during the summer transfer window (Mundo Deportivo).
Juventus convinced about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Gazzetta have now stated that the 28-year-old has convinced Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli from ‘all points of view’, with the Old Lady having identified him as the man to solidify their midfield amidst the potential loss of Paul Pogba.
The outlet adds that while Hojbjerg’s salary demands would not be an issue for the Serie A giants, Tottenham’s €30m (£26m) valuation could be an obstacle to any deal.
The report explains that Spurs would want to sign a replacement if the former Southampton man leaves, particularly since Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr will be involved in the AFCON.
It is alleged that the North London club would need to raise funds for a replacement, which is why they are unlikely to consider loaning Hojbjerg out.
Spurs Web Opinion
With Hojbjerg looking certain to leave, it will be interesting to see which midfielder Tottenham pursue in January.
It appears like Conor Gallagher, who was previously Postecoglou’s top target, is now off the table, with the 23-year-old becoming a fixture in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield at Chelsea.
