Former Tottenham defender Danny Rose is currently training at Hotspur Way amidst his attempts to leave Watford this summer, according to the Watford Observer.

The report claims the 32-year-old is training with Spurs at his own request while he attempts to seal an exit from the Hornets over the transfer window.

Contracted until next year at Vicarage Road, Rose endured a miserable campaign as Watford were relegated to the Championship last season.

The former England international made just eight appearances, with the last of those coming in December (Transfermarkt) before he fell out of favour under Claudio Ranieri.

Rose spent 14 years at Tottenham but had a rocky tail end of his career in N17, which was concluded in the summer last year.

He criticised former manager Jose Mourinho for failing to give him as many opportunities in defence as some of his teammates upon his arrival at Spurs in November 2019 (BBC Sport).

The Portuguese coach then froze Rose out of the first-team squad completely in the 2020-21 campaign, playing no games as Watford later picked him up on a free transfer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is good to see Rose back with Spurs albeit for what is likely to be a brief spell after the tough few years he has endured.

Things ended on a fairly sour note for him but the fact he has requested to train with Spurs specifically indicates he still keeps the club close to him.
