The Athletic have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target, Ismaila Sarr, is expected to leave Watford during the summer transfer window.
Sarr’s displays are one of the main reasons that Watford still have a chance of reaching the playoffs, with the attacker having scored nine times and provided five assists so far this season (Transfermarkt).
It was The Athletic who reported at the start of last month that Spurs considered a move for the Senegal international during the January transfer window before they snapped up Arnaut Danjuma on loan.
The same publication have now asserted that Sarr is expected to leave Vicarage Road this summer even if Watford win promotion to the top flight.
The 25-year-old will enter the final year of his contract with the Hornets in June and it is asserted that he has no intention of signing a new deal.
The report adds that the forward came close to joining Aston Villa last summer in a £25m deal last summer and states that Crystal Palace have also kept a close eye on the player’s situation over the last few seasons.
Spurs Web Opinion
Sarr will perhaps view the failed switch to Tottenham in January as a dodged bullet, given Danjuma’s struggles for game time at the club since his move.
However, I believe that the 25-year-old will be an excellent replacement for Lucas Moura and he is likely to be less expensive than the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, given the Watford star’s contract situation.
