In what comes as a potential blow to Spurs in their pursuit of Kalvin Phillips, TEAMtalk have revealed that Newcastle United have already met with the Manchester City star’s agent to discuss a January transfer.
It was Football Transfers who first reported last week that Spurs were ‘really keen’ on signing Phillips in January, with the midfielder alleged to have made his mind up to leave the Etihad Stadium in search of regular game time.
The Mirror subsequently suggested earlier this week that the 27-year-old’s representatives are fielding enquiries ahead of January and alleged that City would even be open to loaning out the player.
A couple of days ago, 90 min claimed that Bayern Munich had made contact over the City star’s availability, with Thomas Tuchel said to be a fan of the England international.

If TEAMtalk’s latest update is to be believed, Newcastle have now reached out to the player’s entourage over a potential move.
The report states the Magpies are actively seeking cover for Sandro Tonali as the Italian is expected to face a lengthy ban after admitting to gambling breaches.
Newcastle’s sporting director Dan Ashworth is said to have met with Phillips’ agency, CAA Stellar, with the former Leeds star thought to be in favour of a move to St James’ Park.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the exciting project that is underway at Spurs under Postecoglou, we would be a more attractive destination for Phillips than Newcastle. So, if the Lilywhites do hold a genuine interest in the City star, they would fancy their chances of beating the competition to his signature.
