Daniel Levy has said that Tottenham Hotspur would have the ability to re-sign Harry Kane if the striker decides that he wants to return to the club in the future.
Some eyebrows were raised when Levy admitted in the fan forum at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday that Tottenham have a buy-back clause for Kane.
It has since been confirmed by both Sky Sports and The Daily Mail that it is a right-to-match clause rather than a buy-back, allowing the Lilywhites to match any offer that Bayern accept from an English club for Kane.
Daniel Levy is not sure about Harry Kane’s future
The Mail even went on to add that the England captain is unlikely to consider returning to Spurs as his relationship with Levy had become frosty in the summer. This was allegedly because the Spurs chairman made the 30-year-old’s move to Bayern quite difficult.
Levy has now said that while it is impossible to predict the future, the club are very much open to bringing Kane back to N17.
The 61-year-old told Bloomberg: “If Harry, one day, wants to come back to the Premier League and he wants to come to Tottenham, we would have the ability to repurchase him.
“Harry was a great servant to the club, an amazing player, someone that came from our academy, but you can’t look into the future. Who knows.”
Spurs Web Opinion
This is the sort of diplomatic answer one would expect from Levy but the reality is that it is too early to be thinking about Kane potentially returning to Spurs. A lot can happen in the next three to four years, which could influence the striker’s and Tottenham’s stance on the matter.
