Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have turned down more than four different approaches for Pape Matar Sarr this summer.
Sarr showed plenty of promise when opportunities came his way last season under Antonio Conte, although his game time was quite limited during the Italian’s tenure.
The 20-year-old arguably delivered his best performance in a Tottenham shirt on Saturday in the club’s 2-0 win over Manchester United, with the youngster appearing to come of age in the middle of the park alongside Yves Bissouma and James Maddison.
The Senegal international, who got Spurs’ opening goal, received plenty of praise from Ange Postecolgou, who remarked that he had been impressed by the midfielder right from the day he arrived at the club (Football.London).
Spurs have rejected multiple Pape Matar Sarr offers
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Postecolgou rates Sarr as a ‘top talent’, which is why he blocked the player from leaving the club this summer.
The journalist added that the former Metz man has been the subject of ‘strong interest’ this season but Tottenham considered him to be ‘untouchable’.

Of all the impressive signings that Paratici oversaw during his tenure, of which there are many, it can be argued that Sarr was the best.
The 20-year-old does not appear to have any real weaknesses in his game and in many respects, Postecoglou is the ideal coach for the youngster’s development, with the midfielder seeming to thrive due to the freedom afforded by the Australian.
