Harry Redknapp has claimed that Yves Bissouma is worth around £70m in the current market, amidst news of Tottenham’s cut-price signing of the midfielder.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that Tottenham had agreed on a fee of around £25m with Brighton for Bissouma, who has just 12 months left to run on his contract at the Amex Stadium (The Times).

According to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, the fee could rise to around £30m including add-ons, with the 25-year-old expected to complete his medical at Hotspur Way later this week.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Brighton star’s agent is expected to meet with Spurs in the coming hours to sort out the final details ahead of the move.

Tottenham have allegedly beaten out competition from both Aston Villa and Newcastle United to land the Mali international (90 min).

Redknapp was left extremely surprised when he was told how much the Lilywhites will be paying for Bissouma, and admitted that he was a big fan of the midfielder.

When asked how much he felt the Brighton star is worth, the former Spurs manager told talkSPORT Breakfast: “Oh, he’s a good player. £70m.”

When informed that Tottenham had signed him for £25m, he responded: “Oh, cheap! He’s a good player, strong – yeah I like him. I tell you what, Spurs are going to be strong next year. They’ll bring a few in.”

Bissouma was always going be cheap this summer due to his contract situation but £25m is an absolute steal. One can argue that he is a better player than the likes of Ruben Neves and Kalvin Phillips, who are expected to cost more that price this summer.
