Judging by reports on Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour, Yves Bissouma is becoming a key member of the squad and is even helping younger players during training.
The signing of Bissouma last summer was heralded as a fantastic piece of business by Tottenham, who snapped up Brighton‘s star man for just £25m (Sky Sports).
Unfortunately, the Mali international did not enjoy the most successful of debut seasons with the Lilywhites. Bissouma struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte‘s system and also suffered a long-term injury which hampered his progress.
With Conte now gone and new manager Ange Postecoglou running the rule over his squad, it is hoped Bissouma could have something of a fresh start this season and live up to those early expectations.
It was already reported by Alasdair Gold in a piece for Football.London last week that Bissouma has caught the eye of Postecoglou.
Bissouma has been helping younger Spurs players
Now, an update from Football.London has shed some light on how things are going for Tottenham on their pre-season tour, and it sounds like Bissouma is continuing to impress.
The new report claims Bissouma could end up feeling like a “new signing” this year, and suggests the player is looking like a “man re-energised” so far in pre-season.
The player is held in “high regard” by Postecoglou and his staff, and it is believed Biasouma’s confidence has “shot up” as a result.
As “one of the more popular players in the squad,” Bissouma has been “interacting with all the different groups” around the team.
Perhaps most interesting is the fact the 25-year-old has been spotted “encouraging the young English players in training sessions.”
Spurs Web Opinion
All signs point to Yves Bissouma flourishing in his sophomore season with Tottenham, both on and off the pitch.
He is clearly enjoying himself a lot more now and that positivity behind the scenes will only help him during games as his confidence and comfortably improves. If he can pass on some wisdom to the younger players, too, then that’s a nice added bonus.
