Antonio Conte has admitted that Rodrigo Bentancur could be back in action over the coming days after picking up an injury against Burnley.
Bentancur has hit the ground running since his move to North London from Juventus on transfer deadline day in January.
The midfielder has not just been impressed with his passing range and ability to hold on to possession in tight areas but he has also demonstrated his tenacity and work ethic off the ball.
The Uruguayan came off with an injury at half-time of Tottenham’s 1-0 loss at Turf Moor last week. The Evening Standard subsequently reported that the 24-year-old could be out of action for up to three weeks.
However, Conte has provided a boost by revealing that the midfielder is recovering well from his ankle injury and is expected to be back in training following the club’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Middlesbrough.
While previewing Spurs’ trip to the Riverside Stadium, the Italian told Spurs TV: “Bentancur is improving. I think that, after this game, he can be back with us.”

This is a major boost to Spurs as Bentancur has been excellent in all of his appearances so far. Not only does the Uruguayan appear to be more comfortable on the ball than our other midfielders but he also seems quite tactically astute.
Hojbjerg and Winks certainly took their chance against Leeds by putting in terrific performances and with Skipp also set to return over the coming weeks, Conte is spoilt for choice in the central midfield area.
