The Athletic have revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur is very excited to link up with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham paid £20m to Juventus to snap up Bentancur on transfer deadline day last month (Football.London).
Although he is just 24 years of age, the midfielder already has plenty of experience under his belt, having helped Juventus win three Scudettos as well as two Copa Italia titles in his four and a half years in Turin.
In addition, the new Spurs signing has been a mainstay in Uruguay’s midfield over the last few years, having already won 47 caps for his country (Transfermarkt).
Bentancur produced an impressive cameo off the bench in his debut against Brighton on Saturday, helping Spurs see out a 3-1 win.
The Athletic have now revealed that Bentancur is excited to be linking up with Conte and believes that working with the Italian will be ‘great’ for his career.
The former Juve man also allegedly feels that the Premier League would be a good fit for the skill set he possesses.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is understandable that some Spurs fans might be more excited by the signing of Kulusevski than Bentancur. The Swede’s signing potentially has more upsides given his high ceiling.
However, I believe Bentancur will adapt much quicker to the Premier League and he could thrive in the role clarity he would get while playing in Conte’s set-up.
