According to a report in El Pais (02/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Rodrigo Bentancur is set to get a checkup to clear up the extent of his injury.
Bentancur was one of Uruguay’s best players in the World Cup and the South American side were leading Ghana 2-0 when the Tottenham man pulled up with an injury on 33 minutes.
The 24-year-old’s absence was felt after he was replaced by Matias Vecino, with Uruguay being knocked out of the tournament on goal difference despite beating Ghana, due to South Korea’s dramatic late win against Portugal.
El Pais have praised the performances that Bentanucr delivered in Qatar. While the publication does not shed light on the nature of the midfielder’s injury, they explain that he will be checked up by the national team’s medical staff.
The report asserts that there will be an ‘official report’ regarding the former Juve man’s injury in the ‘next few hours’.

With Uruguay being knocked out, Bentancur might actually fly back to London and be examined by the Tottenham medical staff, which could take a day or two longer. The 24-year-old is suspended for the clash against Brentford on boxing day after picking up five yellow cards. So, he will almost have a full month to get back to full fitness.
