According to a report in El Periodico Mediterraneo (01/07/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Everton have now joined Crystal Palace in the race for Arnaut Danjuma.
Danjuma joined Spurs on loan from Villarreal during the January transfer window, with the North London club having the option to make his move permanent for £27m.
However, the forward made just one Premier League start in N17 and the club unsurprisingly decided against taking up the option to sign him.
We relayed a report from The Daily Mail last week, which suggested that Palace had identified Danjuma as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha.
Everton now join the race for ex-Spurs Danjuma
El Periodico Mediterraneo have now claimed the Toffees are now ready to battle the Eagles for the former Tottenham man.
The report states that the Dutchman is now ‘on the exit ramp’ at Villarreal and is one of the ‘hot potatoes’ they’d like to offload this summer.
The publication adds that the former Bournemouth star has a ‘great reputation’ in England despite his struggles for game time at Spurs.
Palace are said to be ‘one of the main interested parties’ while Everton have also now ‘knocked on the door’ for Danjuma’s services.
El Periodico Mediterraneo remarks that the player also does not want to stay at Villarreal, which is why he is now ‘destined’ for an exit from El Madrigal this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs famously stole Danjuma from under Everton’s noses in January, which is perhaps why it is not a surprise to see the Toffees reignite their interest in the 26-year-old.
The Netherlands international did not get the opportunities he deserved at Tottenham and he certainly possesses the attributes to succeed in the Premier League.
