Relevo have claimed that Villarreal are now considering making a move for Tottenham centre-back Davinson Sanchez.
The report states that Villarreal are on the lookout for a centre-back to replace Pau Torres following the Spaniard’s move to Aston Villa and have now identified Sanchez as an option.
It is said that while Spurs are ready to offload the Colombian, the North London club are demanding a fee of €15m (£12.8m) for his sale.
The publication suggests that such a fee might not be an issue for Villarreal since they are set for a cash influx of €35m-€40m (£30m-£34.3m) from Torres’ sale to Villa.
The competition for Davinson Sanchez is heating up
However, Relevo explains that the Yellow Submarine face plenty of competition for Sanchez, with Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Spartak Moscow also on the Tottenham man’s trail.
It is asserted that the centre-back’s preference on where he wants to move to could end up playing a ‘decisive role’ in the negotiations.
The report also adds that the Villarreal hierarchy have a good relationship with Spurs, having negotiated deals for the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Juan Foyth and Arnauj Danjuma over recent years.
Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect Tottenham might have to end up accepting a fee of around £8m-£10m for Sanchez, given that he only has a year left on his contract.
Among the clubs mentioned in this report, one would think that the Colombian’s top preference would be to move to Villarreal, who are in next season’s Europa League.
