Football.London have revealed that Ben Davies’ withdrawal from the Welsh international squad has been purely precautionary.
Wales confirmed in a post on their official Twitter account yesterday that the former Swansea City player had pulled out of tomorrow’s friendly against the Czech Republic but did not stipulate whether he was injured or suffering from illness.
Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has confirmed that defender is said to have felt tightness in one of his quad muscles in his thigh following the World Cup semi-final play-off victory against Austria and has since returned to Hotspur Way for treatment.
It is explained that Davies was released as a precaution before the problem developed and that Spurs are hoping that he would be available for Tottenham’s clash against Newcastle United in north London on Sunday.
Davies has been an important player for Antonio Conte at Spurs, with the Neath-born product impressing in the left centre-back role since the Italian’s arrival.
That is a position that the 28-year-old has played frequently for Wales and he put in another accomplished defensive display in that role last Thursday to help his country take a step closer to World Cup qualification.

With almost all of our key players away on international duty, it was inevitable that at least one or two would return with knocks. Hopefully, the fact that Davies has been released before the injury developed into a serious one, means that his recovery time will be shorter, as the 28-year-old is very important for the balance of the Spurs side.
