Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has provided an explanation as to why Joe Rodon disappeared from the Tottenham bench during Sunday’s clash with Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Rodon began the encounter as the only senior defender named on the Spurs bench for their all-important top-four decider against a relegated Norwich (Premier League).
A number of Spurs fans noticed that the 24-year-old did not reappear with fellow substitutes for the start of the second half, and he seemingly missed his team’s post-match celebrations in the away dressing room.
According to Gold, Rodon fell ill with the virus that had been making its way around the Spurs camp in the lead-up to the final day of the Premier League season, producing vomiting, fevers, and stomach problems.
With Rodon joining up with Spurs teammate Ben Davies and the rest of the Welsh national squad a day late, it is suspected he has finally shaken off the worst of the illness (Football.London).
Rodon will be hoping to gain more important minutes for his country and attract potential suitors as he is expected to be granted a move away from N17 this summer (Football.London).
Spurs Web Opinion
It was slightly suspicious to not see Joe re-emerge from the tunnel with the rest of the substitutes on Sunday and it is encouraging to hear that it was due to reasons beyond his control.
He is clearly a talented centre-back and he deserves to go and play regular first-team football, whether that is on a loan deal or a permanent move.
