El Observador have revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur will go under the knife very soon after sustaining an ACL injury against Leicester.
Tottenham endured a torrid time in the King Power Stadium, with the Foxes running out 4-1 winners and the embarrassing loss was exacerbated by the fact that the Lilywhites lost Bentancur to an injury.
TNT Sports Argentina reported on Sunday that the 25-year-old had torn his cruciate ligaments and is thus expected to be sidelined for six to eight months.
It looks like no time will be wasted in trying to get Bentanur on the mend, with El Observador now reporting that the midfielder is set to undergo surgery to repair the tear.
The report states that the former Juventus man will undergo the required procedure ‘in the next few hours’ before starting his long road back to fitness.
Bentancur’s injury comes as a particularly big blow, with Tottenham announcing last week that Yves Bissouma will undergo surgery on his injured ankle.
In addition, Ryan Sessegnon is expected to be out of action for six weeks with an ankle injury (Football.London) while Hugo Lloris has been ruled out for a similar length of time with a knee injury (Telegraph).

Bentancur’s injury is undoubtedly the biggest blow as the Uruguayan, in many ways, makes our system tick. Without him in the middle of the park, we have struggled to progress the ball to the attacking third. It is certainly not ideal to rely on Skipp and Sarr at such a crucial point in the season.
