Rodrigo Bentancur has taken to Instagram to send a message of positivity to the Tottenham faithful following his injury woes this week.
Despite being Tottenham’s only goalscorer and best player on the day, Bentancur picked up a nasty-looking injury in the second half of the 4-1 defeat to Leicester City at the weekend.
While it initially looked like an innocuous coming together, the sheer amount of pain the Uruguayan was clearly experiencing hinted at a far more serious problem for the Lilywhites.
The midfielder received treatment and adrenaline on the pitch before hobbling to the sidelines, at which point it seemed as though he was thinking about coming back on before being taken down the tunnel.
After scans the following morning, it was confirmed by Tottenham that Bentancur had suffered a ruptured ACL injury, which is expected to keep him out for 6-8 months (TNT Sports Argentina).
Bentancur took to Instagram today to say to the Spurs fans:
‘It’s very hard to be out of action for the remainder of the campaign and not to be able to help the team to achieve our goals. After the surgery, I’ll begin the rehabilitation with the medical staff. My aim is to be back soon and stronger than ever, to defend the jerseys of @spursofficial and @aufoficial.
‘Thanks for the support and all the messages.
‘A hug for all of you!
‘Rodrigo.’
Spurs Web Opinion:
Arguably one of the worst injuries for Tottenham to pick up at the moment, along with players like Harry Kane and Cristian Romero. Bentancur makes this team tick. But I suppose it is also now a chance for Sarr and Skipp to step up and prove themselves.
