Mauricio Pochettino has said Heung-min Son deserves all the credit he is getting as he continued his fine run of form as we triumphed 4-0 over Everton.
The South Korean, who is in terrific form, opened the scoring at Wembley before laying on an assist for Harry Kane to be named man of the match.
Kane has again taken the headlines after becoming the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, however Son is also on a path to his own records.
His fifth consecutive goal in a home Premier League game, an achievement only matched by Jermain Defoe at Spurs, is a sign of his importance to this side and according to the London Evening Standard Mauricio Pochettino says the player has shown a new level of maturity this season.
“It was a great performance, but it’s not only today,”:Pochettino said of the forward. It’s three months we’ve been talking about Sonny’s performance. He’s showing he’s more mature than last season and his performances are helping the team a lot.
He added: “He, today, everyone can see that he’s on more of a level, the belief and confidence that show in every game is fantastic. He’s been doing so well this season of course.”
Pochettino offered credit to all those working behind the scenes at the club for the Korean’s improvement, he says the drastic improvement in Son’s form is principally down to the 25-year-old.He added: “To be honest, of course we work hard, the staff and all the areas; sports science and medical staff, to try to help the players. But it is true that for me, he deserves the credit that is that is present and how he is doing is [because of] him.
He continued: “Of course, we work, we talk but at the end always it is the talent and belief of the player and showing what they have inside and their talent. We talk a lot be he deserves the credit.”
