According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur have not yet given up on their pursuit of RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol.
Gvardiol and his Leipzig teammates endured a difficult evening on Tuesday at the Etihad, with Manchester City thrashing them 7-0 in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.
Bild state that despite the hammering, several Premier League clubs, including City themselves, continue to have the Croat on their wishlist.
The report names Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea as the three other clubs from the English top flight who remain keen on the 21-year-old.
The publication reveals that Gvardiol has a €112m (£98.3m) release clause in his contract, which will become active at the end of 2023.
However, it is explained that the centre-back is keen on departing the Red Bull Arena at the end of the current season and that the Bundesliga club would be prepared to accept a fee of around €100m (£87.7m) for the player in the summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot see Tottenham spending the best part of £100m, which is likely to be the majority of our summer transfer budget, on a single player.
So, I suspect the club have already started looking beyond Gvardiol and to other left centre-back options such as Evan Ndicka and Piero Hincapie.
