Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol recenty had huge words of praise for Tottenham-bound Luka Vuskovic.
According to various reports, Tottenham are expected to win the race for Vuskovic, with the North London club set to agree a £12m deal with Hajduk Split before loaning the defender back to the Croatian side until 2025, when he turns 18 (Evening Standard).
There is plenty of excitement surrounding Spurs’ impending capture of the 16-year-old, who is rated by many as the best centre-back in his age group, with several Premier League sides, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United all previously credited with an interest in the teenager (Daily Mail).
It was reported by Calciomercato a couple of days ago that Tottenham had even seen off competition from Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan to land the youngster.
It turns out that Gvardiol, who completed a £77.6m switch to Man City last month, is big fan of the emerging young centre-back.
The City star told Index back in March about Vuskovic: “I saw him, I’m glad he’s developing like that. I hope he’ll develop into a top stopper, he has everything to become one of the best.
“It’s up to him to work. He has a brother who has done great things. He doesn’t need much advice from me, he knows everything. I would love to play together one day.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Vuksovic seems to have been widely tipped to become the next big thing in Croatian football. However, there are no guarantees with young players that they will reach their full potential, which is why Spurs fans would need to temper their expectations for the time being.
