The Daily Mirror have claimed that Ange Postecoglou is now confident that Micky van de Ven will become Tottenham’s next signing of the summer transfer window.
Spurs have had a busy start to the transfer window, having made Dejan Kulusevski’s loan move permanent and securing the services of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison from Empoli and Leicester City respectively.
Tottenham have also strengthened out wide, with Manor Solomon joining as a free agent ahead of the new campaign (Sky Sports).
On Monday evening, Fabrizio Romano reported that Spurs are ‘advancing’ in their talks with Wolfsburg regarding Van de Ven, with the journalist adding that an agreement is ‘close’.
Postecoglou is quietly confident on Van de Ven
The Mirror have now claimed that Postecoglou expects Tottenham to wrap up a £25m deal for the Dutchman soon.
The report explains that the 22-year-old centre-back is keen on making the switch to N17, which is why the transfer is expected to go through without any hiccups.
The publication also backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by explaining that Edmond Tapsoba is seen as a more ‘readymade option’ by Spurs but it is asserted that the Bayer Leverkusen star would cost around double what Van de Ven would.

Postecoglou might want a left-sided centre-back to arrive through the door quickly so that the newcomer can be part of the club’s pre-season tour to Asia and Australia.
So, unless there is some significant breakthrough in the talks for Tapsoba over the next 24 hours, I expect Spurs to finalise Van de Ven’s capture.
