Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that the possibility of Tottenham signing both Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven cannot be ruled out this summer.
It is clear that left centre-back is the position that Tottenham want to address next after strengthening in goal, midfield and the wide areas with the acquisitions of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon respectively.
The general consensus over the last week has been that Spurs will sign one of Tapsoba or Van de Ven, with several sources, including Alasdair Gold (Football.London) suggesting that the Lilywhites view the former as the more ‘readymade option’.
However, it appears as if the Van de Ven deal has been progressing over the last couple of days, with Football Insider claiming on Thursday that the Dutchman has already agreed a five-year contract with Tottenham, who are now confident of striking an agreement on a fee with Wolfsburg.
Spurs could sign both Tapsoba and Micky Van de Ven
Brown has now stated that Spurs could yet sign both players since they are looking to sign multiple centre-backs this summer.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Spurs seem a little further down the line with Van de Ven.
“They’ve met his people. I understand his personal terms won’t be a problem. It’s purely about agreeing on a fee with his club.
“That one seems more likely to happen at the moment than Tapsoba. But both of them are on Spurs’ list, and it does look like they might try to sign two centre-backs this summer. So, they may sign them both.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Tottenham were looking to sign both Van de Ven and Tapsoba, they would have likely got a deal for the former over the line by now.
It is clear that the Lilywhites are waiting to see if their pursuit of the Leverkusen star progresses before finalising a deal for the Netherlands international. To me, that appears to be clear evidence that the club want to sign just one of the two.
