Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham are now close to signing Manor Solomon on a free transfer this summer, somewhat out of the blue.

The winger was contracted by Shakhtar Donetsk but joined Fulham on loan last season due to the conflict in Ukraine.

Romano has claimed that, as long as everything goes to plan with Shakhtar and FIFA rules, Solomon will join Spurs as a free agent this summer, even giving the deal his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.

Medical tests have reportedly been scheduled for next week and a deal is already in place between the player and the club.

Shakhtar Donetsk had threatened to sue Tottenham

This comes after Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin threatened to sue Tottenham if they scooped up the 23-year-old on a free, labelling it as unjust because his club would not get the transfer fee they deserve (ESPN).

The Athletic did report recently that Spurs were leading the race for Solomon, even though Fulham were looking to bring him back to the club this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

As a free signing to serve as a backup forward, this seems like a good deal. I imagine Solomon will fill the kind of role Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma did last season.

With Kane, Richarlison, Son, Kulusevski, and Maddison, he is unlikely to start a huge number of games, but could provide some nice depth.
