Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal for Wolfsburg central defender Micky van de Ven, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Dutch Under-21 international has already agreed personal terms with the North Londoners and an agreement between the two clubs is now reaching the final stages of talks.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou admitted during the club’s tour of Asia-Pacific that the club were working hard on trying to bolster his options in the backline and refused to reveal any frustration in the delay in getting a deal over the line.
He told Football.London: “No, it’s just the football world, mate. I’ve been in it a long time. I wish it could be like my wife with Amazon where we get deliveries everyday mate. But I can’t put one in and get it the next day, unfortunately.
“It’s just the way of the football world so no frustration, just keep working hard to try and get it done.”
Tottenham close to deal for van de Ven
Romano wrote on Twitter/X: “Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for Micky Van de Ven! Deal advancing to final stages now.
“There are still details to sort but talks underway — agreement could be done soon. Personal terms, 100% agreed.”
The Athletic claimed late last month that a deal for the jet-heeled defender was not advancing in which it was reported an agreement between the two clubs was not yet close but could be resurrected.

With just 11 days to go until Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign at Brentford, some fans have been losing patience at just how long they will have to wait for defensive reinforcements.
Hopefully, negotiations can be concluded swiftly to at least allow van de Ven the opportunity to line up against Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
Spurs conceded an eye-watering 63 goals in the Premier League last season and improvements have to be made, we simply cannot go into the campaign with the likes of Davinson Sanchez being asked to play week in, week out.
