Micky van de Ven has revealed he loved hearing the Tottenham Hotspur fans singing his name at the weekend against Manchester United.
Tottenham’s newest centre-back signing lined up alongside Cristian Romero for the Big Six clash and earned a clean sheet while looking more than comfortable against the likes of Marcus Rashford.
The Dutch defender was also treated to a rendition of his new song from the Spurs faithful in what was his home Premier League debut.
Spurs supporters have recycled an old classic from the days of Rafa Van der Vaart, singing Micky van de Ven to the tune of Give It Up (na na na na na na na na na na na, Micky van de Ven, Van de Ven, Micky van de Ven).
The Spurs summer signing said it was like a childhood dream to play in the home stadium and hear his name being sung by tens of thousands of fans.
Micky van de Ven told SpursPLAY: “Yeah I heard, it’s incredible. It’s really cool. It’s incredible if you think about it.
“Last weekend it was an away game they also sang my name sometimes but when you hear it in the home stadium, it’s a child’s dream.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I, for one, am thrilled to have this chant back. It was always one of my favourites during the Harry Redknapp days and the fact it fits Micky’s name perfectly is amazing. I’m sure Van der Vaart will be more than happy to pass the Give Me Up torch over to Van de Ven.
