Tottenham Hotspur could be in for a shakeup at the end of this season, especially if certain players are on the way out of the North London door.
Not only have Tottenham got a new manager who will want to put his stamp on the team he has inherited, but he also has a number of first-team players with dwindling deals.
Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, and Christian Eriksen all have contracts expiring in the summer unless new deals or sales can be agreed between now and then.
Youngster Japhet Tanganga is also out of contract come the end of the season, with Parrott, Danny Rose, and more seeing their deals expire the year after.
As much, Spurs have been linked to a number of new stars this season, including James Maddison who is seen as a potential Eriksen replacement (Daily Star – 05/10/19 pg 51).
However, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has come out and said that there will be no sales in January, with the Foxes currently being Liverpool’s closest challengers for the league title (Sky Sports News).
He said: “There will be no one leaving in January. Categorically.
Asked if that message had been passed down by the club’s hierarchy, he added: “No. But I’m sure if we speak that will be the case as well. I speak regularly with John Rudkin (director of football) and Top (Leicester owner) but I haven’t spoken to them today on that. It’s pretty clear we want to keep this squad together, it’s a very exciting team with a lot of growth and development in it. So we want to make sure that they stay around and beyond January.”
