James Maddison and Jack Grealish are both players who have been heavily linked with moves to Tottenham in the past.
Tottenham could have signed Grealish from Aston Villa for just £6 million back in the summer of 2018 according to The Sun.
Maddison was also said to be on Tottenham’s radar last summer, with The Telegraph (5 October 2019, page 51) reporting that the Lilywhites were battling their North London rivals Arsenal for the Leicester star.
Both players have been in terrific form for their respective clubs during the current campaign.
Manchester United were said to have prioritised a move for Grealish this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that the Red Devils were preparing to pay up to £70 million for his services.
However, the report suggests that they have now decided against a move for the Villa captain following his alleged involvement in a car accident, just hours after recording a message asking people to stay indoors “to help save lives.” He has since been fined and disciplined by the Midlands club (disciplined and fined by his club).
After the controversial incident, it is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side are now ready to turn their attentions to Maddison instead.
This might have repercussions for Spurs if either of those players were still on their radar.
Spurs Web Opinion
Any talk of big-money transfers seems unrealistic at this point given the financial distress clubs find themselves in. I do not expect either Grealish or Maddison to leave this summer as it is unlikely that Manchester United nor us will be in a position to pay the kind of fees being reported.
