Mauricio Pochettino has been pleased with the progress his Tottenham Hotspur side has made in the last few years but the Argentine tactician told www.skysports.com that “real” success will be measured by silverware.
Tottenham have progressed under Pochettino’s tutelage including finishing second and third in the Premier League in the last two seasons despite spending considerably less than their main top six rivals. However Pochettino acknowledged that qualifying for the Champions League is crucial, he believes true success can only be measured by how many trophies a team wins.
Poch said: “For me, success is to win! Tottenham, in the last few years, have achieved the Champions League and that is success but the real success is to touch the trophies,”
“We need to keep the hunger, the vision and our way to try and win games and be a solid team.”
It has been steady progression under the Argentine, and in terms of expenditure we are certainly punching above our weight but we would agree with him that true success will be measured by trophies in the cabinet.
Do you agree with us and Pochettino, is a trophy a necessary to be deemed successful or is consistent Champions League qualification more important. Let us know your thoughts below.
